SongSpace is a tribute to the inception, development, and continuation of the tradition of the Latvian Song and Dance Celebration. There are as many opportunities to experience the exposition as there are steps in the Participants’ Parade. The information, aesthetic pleasure and emotions offered here is inextricably linked to the path each person has taken to get here. It is as inevitable as every Latvian’s destiny to get to the Celebration − from a meadow, a homestead, a town house, a factory, or an office – by foot, wagon, bus, tram, bicycle, or car when it rains or when the sun beats down. Individually and as a group, we have left our daily lives and answered the call of our hearts to experience, feel, and learn – to partake in unison or in polyphony, outside of time, space, and daily life. 

Each SongSpace item provides its own special key to interacting with the Song and Dance Celebration tradition, creating an unrepeatable aesthetic, emotional, and knowledgeable experience: in the facts and memories illustrated in the River of Time; in the fine silk threads of the Līgo Flag, in the origins of the Song Celebration origins found in nature and the human spirit, manifested in the Biggest Choir in the World; and in the pearls of Latvian music that can be heard in the Choral Music Listening Chairs.  

Each Song Celebration experience is a part of the overall story about the Latvian nation and country, its values, cultural aspects, and people. SongSpace is a crossroads where stories part and unite − our life force, past and future.
